CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As Myjive continues to pioneer the use of emerging technologies directors have called for an innovation playground — an entire studio dedicated to mapping projections on its walls, relaying body movements to a screen or developing the latest trending mobile app.
“We feel as a company in what we do — digital forward-thinking — we’re always looking for the next best thing,” Partner and Creative Director Ron Edelen said. “If we don’t create some kind of platform to continually evolve and innovate we feel we would be left behind.”
Directors Edelen, Albert Banks and Michael Chatten will unveil Myjive Labs as the agency’s next evolution, next door to its headquarters on September 19 at 6:30 p.m. Labs will be a digital research and development studio where Myjive’s directors and staff can proactively create new digital tools. Space for the open house is limited, so please reserve your spot to welcome in digital exploration at the NC Music Factory.
“The heritage of Myjive is that we’re not going to give you the same traditional approach or the traditional advertising technique,” Edelen said. “It’s more of a progressive heritage that carries into Myjive Labs.”
The digital lab and showroom will showcase the fusion of technology with commerce and art, and function as an experience center that curates digital innovations. Works will be displayed within Labs to inspire clients and staff with first-hand demonstrations on augmentative reality, 3D wall projections, digital tables, mobile applications and more.
The rustic decor of the NC Music Factory forces Labs to draw inspiration from the past. The large arching windows shine light on to projection screens, adaptive workstations, a conference room and digital tools.
The goal is to create innovative products and processes that will viable advertising and marketing solutions for clients, Banks said. A new studio may enhance creativity.
Labs has a schedule to present a new innovation every quarter and to foster a collaborative and engaging environment through monthly internal workshops. Presentations will be held in Labs with sessions that illuminate a technology sector or a specific digital tool. For updates follow Labs @myjivelabs.
“I think it’s a great place to play,” Edelen said. “Technology is changing so, so fast that if we don’t create a (new) platform like Myjive Labs we’ll get stuck in our everyday grind and we won’t force ourselves to innovate.”
